MyPath Cymru
Revolutionising weight management services in Wales

MyPath Cymru is a £7.8m bid to the Obesity Pathway Innovation Programme which, if approved, will transform how weight management services are delivered in Wales. During 2025, we worked closely with Public Health Wales on the programme and were instrumental in developing the proposal, bringing together all seven Welsh health boards and Public Health Wales

Over three years, the project seeks to replace Wales’ fragmented weight management service with a national pathway - digitally enabled, community-led and designed to improve access to behavioural and pharmacological care. If successful, the service will initially pilot in Hywel Dda University Health Board and Cwm Taf University Health Board, before being rolled out across the country.

“The Funding team at Life Sciences Hub Wales provided us with critical support throughout the development of our proposal, helping us navigate the complex requirements of the Innovate UK OPIP programme. Their guidance was instrumental in shaping a high‑quality application. We are grateful for their expertise and collaborative approach, which significantly strengthened our submission and overall innovation journey”.

Digital Medication Adherence project
Championing inclusive digital solutions that improve lives

This project is helping people manage their medicines safely at home, making use of technologies and joined up working to promote independent medicines management and reducing the need for additional support. We worked closely with Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board, Bridgend County Borough Council and Bridgelink Telecare to enable this innovative collaboration across health and social care services.

Following positive evaluation and great feedback from patients and carers, YourMEDS Pack Ltd and Pivotell Ltd devices are now being further developed and adopted more widely across the area. The project was also a finalist at the NHS Wales Awards.

“It’s made our lives so much easier… we’ve all got our lives back since Julie’s been using the device, and it’s really helped to improve the dynamic of our family relationship.”

Sector intelligence reports
Sector intelligence to strengthen national decision-making

We’ve produced a series of sector intelligence reports including the flagship Future of Cancer Care in Wales series, a landmark resource shaping strategic thinking on one of Wales’s most pressing health priorities.

We also produced reports to support critical decisions around digital transformation in social care. In addition, we produced targeted intelligence to inform decisions on cancer innovation, genomics, digital health, AI-enabled diagnostics, population health, and service improvement. Taken together, this work provides decision-makers timely, evidence-based intelligence to sharpen strategy, prioritise investments and accelerate the adoption of promising technologies in Wales.
